90s Wrestling Cult Faction D-Generation X to be Inducted in the WWE Hall Of Fame
One of the greatest factions in the history of WWE will finally get it’s just due. As announced by ESPN’s Tim Fiorvanti, D-Generation X will be inducted into the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame in New York City.
The D-Generation X stable debuted in 1997 with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Rick Rude, and Chyna. Rude left the company shortly after, but that didn’t slow down the DX train, as they rose to the top attraction and turn the WWE into more of a PG-13 product coined “the Attitude Era.”

D-Generation X helped carry the WWE during the Attitude Era throughout the Monday Night Wars, and its invasion of WCW still lives in infamy today. Brash, arrogant, and down right degenerate its high time this legendary faction be crowned with the highest honor WWE has to offer. Wrestlemania weekend in NYC just got a whole lot more degenerate.
“I think it’s the most meaningful for us all to go in together and to be recognized together,” Triple H told ESPN. “Because I think both groups were [just] as impactful.”
Their crotch-chopping and “suck it” attitude caught on with mainstream pop culture, making them into bigger stars while helping grow the WWE audience at a key time. RUN DMC teamed up with DX for the “King Of Rock” video in 1998. The video showcased the bridge that DX wanted to connect themselves to with at that time, the current hip hop and rebel attitude.
Up until she died of an overdose in 2016, Chyna, real name Joan Laurer, had been openly campaigning for the WWE Hall of Fame and a relationship with the wrestling promotion. She remains the only female performer to hold WWE’s Intercontinental Championship.
Official plans for this year’s Hall of Fame ceremony have not been set. It’s rumored that the Hart Foundation will also be inducted. Though, if true, that creates a whole new level of drama given the history between Bret Hart, Michaels, and Triple H.
The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 6 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY as part of WrestleMania Week.
