Empire Co-Creator Lee Daniels took to Instagram to share his feelings on what it has been like for him and the cast dealing with the Jussie Smollett situation.
In a video he shared on this Wednesday night, which is the day Empire airs on Fox, he says, “Hi, guys I’m back, this past couple of weeks have been a freaking rollercoaster. Me and my cast has experienced pain and anger sadness and frustration and really don’t know how to deal with it. Everything is happening, which you are seeing tonight prior to the incident. This is not what the show was made for. The show was created to bring America together. To talk about the atrocities that are happening right now in the streets.”
Smollett who plays Jamal Lyon on the show recently plead not guilty to 16 counts of disorderly conduct for making false reports after he allegedly staged a fake hate crime incident to gain attention.
