Samsung isn’t bringing the LTE variant of the Galaxy A71 to the U.S.
What you need to know
- Samsung’s 2020 Galaxy A-series phones are coming to the U.S.
- The lineup includes the Galaxy A51 5G and Galaxy A71 5G, Samsung’s first mid-range smartphones with 5G.
- Samsung Galaxy A01 and A51 will be available online and through in-store pick-up starting April 9.
Samsung today announced the launch of its 2020 Galaxy A-series lineup in the U.S. The lineup includes the Galaxy A01, Galaxy A11, Galaxy A21, Galaxy A51, Galaxy A51 5G, and Galaxy A71 5G. While the Galaxy A01, Galaxy A11, and Galaxy A51 were announced earlier this year, the Galaxy A21, Galaxy A51 5G, and Galaxy A71 5G are all-new devices.
The Galaxy A51 5G and A71 5G are Samsung’s very first 5G-enabled mid-range phones. In terms of specs, the Galaxy A51 5G is largely identical to the LTE variant. It comes with a 6.5-inch FHD+ Infinity-O display, 48MP quad rear cameras, and a 4000mAh battery with 15W fast charging. Under the hood, however, the phone runs on an 8nm Exynos 980 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. It will be available in the U.S. starting at $500 later this summer. The LTE variant of the phone, on the other hand, will go on sale starting April 9 for $400.
These mid-range 5G phones provide a nice balance to the Galaxy S20 series.
Samsung Galaxy A71 5G features a 6.7-inch FHD+ Infinity-O display, 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging, and a quad-camera system with a 64MP primary sensor. Just like the A51 5G, the Galaxy A71 5G is powered by an Exynos 980 chipset. It will be available later this summer for $600. These phones provide a good balance to the Galaxy S20 lineup that introduced 5G but at a much higher price point.
Additional Galaxy A-series phones like the Galaxy A11 and A21 will also be going on sale in the U.S. this summer at starting prices of $180 and $250, respectively. The entry-level Galaxy A01, however, will be available starting tomorrow via select retailers and Samsung.com for just $110.
The Galaxy A11 sports a 6.4-inch HD+ Infinity-O display, triple rear cameras with a 13MP main sensor, an 8MP selfie camera, and a 4000mAh battery with 15W fast charging. Samsung Galaxy A21 comes with a larger 6.5-inch HD+ Infinity-O display and has a quad-lens rear camera system with a 16MP primary sensor. The entry-level A01 offers a 5.7-inch HD+ Infinity-V display, dual rear cameras with a 13MP primary sensor, a 5MP front-facing camera, and a 3000mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy A50
The Galaxy A50 is a relatively affordable mid-range smartphone that offers a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, triple rear cameras with a 25MP main sensor, 25MP selfie camera, and a 4,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging.

Flavor Flav’s former manager and the mother of his child, Kate Gammell has been in a constant battle with the rapper to get him to claim and provide for their baby boy, Jordan Gammell.
Gammell reived a paternity test back in October of 2019, confirming that the Public Enemy star is indeed the father of Gammell’s child. Despite the paternity test proving that Flav is the father of her son Jordan, the rapper has seemed to continue to not be active in the life of his son.
In efforts to provide for her newborn, Gammell went to social media to take matters into her own hands. The former manager posted a video of her so sitting on some Flavor Flav merch, as she reads this caption, “Here is my son, Jordan, surrounded by official Flavor Flav merchandise. Jordan is Flavor’s son. I used to manage Flav but no longer do due to the obvious reason. I bought tons of merchandise when I was his manager and now I need money for my son’s everyday needs because I am not getting any child support, so decided to pull out all the merch and sell it to you. It is being sold at a discount rate. I will also be donating a percentage to children’s hospital because they helped me as a kid and are really working hard now even with the Coronavirus to help kids. Message me if interested.”
Gammell has been the manager for Flavor Flav since his early days in Public Enemy. She handled the rapper’s public appearances and his merchandising. In the video, you can see a collection of colorful clothing from t-shirts to hats to hoodies, surrounding baby Jordan. Flav seems to be unbothered by the news after a video surfaced the internet of the hip-hop pioneer making a funny video to Roddy Ricch’s “The Box.”
“When I told him I was pregnant with his child, Flavor let me go and I was left with thousands of dollars of Flavor Flav merch that I had purchased with my own money,” Gammell shares with HipHopDX. “Jordan is not getting any child support from Flavor and I needed money for Jordan’s everyday needs. So, I decided to pull out the merch and sell it to help my son and give a percentage to Children’s Hospital. I doubt I will recoup the money that I put into this, but I don’t care, as any money towards Jordan’s needs is important. The support for Jordan has been fantastic so far,” she continued.

The Trump Administration recently decided to let go of Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham and move on to Trump loyalist Kayleigh McEnany.
Formerly a CNN commentator, McEnany will soon become familiar with White House Reporter April Ryan who exposed McEnany for a racist tweet from 2012.
“How I Met Your Brother — Never mind, forgot he’s still in that hut in Kenya,” McEnany’s tweet reads about President Obama referring to his brother who lives in Kenya.
Based on a Twitter search, it appears that the hashtag #ObamaTVShows trended in 2012, and McEnany was having some fun at the President’s expense.
“Is this the new @PressSec? Well this sis some of the same ish! Horrid!!!! Not Acceptable,” Ryan wrote in the retweet. The 2017 NABJ Journalist of the Year has become a rival of every Press Secretary Trump has put forth and it looks like Press Sec number 4, Kayleigh McEnany, will be no different.
McEnany has not yet responded to April Ryan, but she should get familiar with the 20-year White House veteran before she makes the same mistakes as her predecessors.

In response to the challenges NFL teams are facing due to the coronavirus pandemic, Steelers general manager has a solution.
Steelers GM, Kevin Colbert told league officials that teams should be awarded three extra draft picks. His reasoning is due to the “inherent challenges posed by the coronavirus restrictions,” according to reports.
Colbert believes that teams will be more prone to making mistakes without additional time to evaluate prospects. However, a 10-round draft would help widen a team’s margin for error according to the GM.
“What I’ve reminded our staff, our scouts, from the very beginning of the process since the changes of our rules, I reminded them of the 1974 draft that the Steelers conducted, and they ended up with five Hall of Famers,” Colbert recently said.
“Back in that day, Art Rooney Jr., Bill Nunn and Dick Haley put together the best draft in NFL history, and they didn’t have pro days. They didn’t have combines. They relied on what they felt those guys were as football players. If we have to go into this draft with the same mentality, that’s our challenge, and we’ll do the best we can.”
Fear Of A Virtual Draft
Colbert is one of the NFL’s longest-tenured general managers. However, he isn’t the only one in the NFL that feels some type of way.
This year, the draft will be conducted virtually. NFL teams will be drafting from home. Some insiders, like Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, are concerned about being “hacked.”
“Yeah, big concern,” Harbaugh said on a Zoom call Monday, to the Baltimore Sun. “Every time I read something in, like, the Wall Street Journal or the New York Times that talks about how messed up Zoom is, or some of these other deals … I immediately text it to our IT people, and [director of football administration] Nick Matteo’s one of those guys, and they assure me that we are doing everything humanly possible.”
The league has a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. It includes an expanded regular season and postseason field that comes into effect in 2021.
The NFL will also increase team rosters from 53 to 56 players.
