The highest-end OnePlus 8 Pro will reportedly cost over €1000 in Europe

Comparatively, the baseline OnePlus 8 will have a starting price of €719.

What you need to know

  • Pricing for the OnePlus 8 series was spotted by WinFuture via a European retailer’s website.
  • The OnePlus 8 Pro with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is slated to cost €1019.
  • At the opposite end, the base OnePlus 8 will start at €719.

On April 14, OnePlus is set to fully unveil its upcoming OnePlus 8 series of smartphones. There’s a lot of hype and excitement surrounding the new handsets, and thanks to a report from WinFuture, we now have one of the last remaining puzzle pieces — details on pricing.

European retailer Alza published product pages for the OnePlus 8 devices ahead of schedule, and while they’ve since been deleted, WinFuture managed to grab all of the info before it vanished.

The most affordable configuration this year is the OnePlus 8 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. For that phone, you’ll pay €719 — a noticeable step up from the OnePlus 7T’s €599 price in Europe. The flagship OnePlus 8 Pro will start at €919 for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, going up to as much as €1019 if you step up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

  • OnePlus 8 (8GB RAM and 128GB storage) — €719/729
  • OnePlus 8 (12GB RAM and 256GB storage) — €819/829
  • OnePlus 8 Pro (8GB RAM and 128GB storage) — €919/929
  • OnePlus 8 Pro (12GB RAM and 256GB storage) — €1009/1019

What does this mean for pricing in the U.S.? We don’t know the exact conversions for sure, but with OnePlus CEO Pete Lau saying that the highest-end model will cost “under $1000” in the country, we’d expect slightly lower prices across the board (although probably not by much).

Although such drastic price increases aren’t fun to see, none of this should come as that much of a surprise. The OnePlus 8 Pro, in particular, is shaping up to be the company’s most technically impressive phone by a long shot — offering a 120Hz AMOLED display, 30W wireless charging, and further improved cameras.

Those specs, paired with this new pricing, further reiterates the point that OnePlus is really gunning to take on the Galaxy S20 with the 8 Pro this year. That’s understandable, but it remains to be seen if the regular OnePlus 8 offers enough upgrades and improvements to justify the potentially steep price hike up from the OnePlus 7T.

It’s not just you, Snapchat is down right now

There’s been a huge surge on Downdetector in the last few minutes.

What you need to know

  • Looks like Snapchat is down right now.
  • There’s been a very high surge on Downdetector.
  • Twitter is also awash with reports, and it looks like its global.

If you’re trying to send snaps right now and can’t, you’re not alone, Snapchat is definitely down.

Snapchat has now Tweeted from its Snapchat Support account to confirm it is aware of the issues and is looking into it:

We’re aware many Snapchatters are having trouble using the app. Hang tight – we’re looking into it

Nearly 30,000 outage reports have been logged on Downdetector in the last 20 minutes or so, and Downdector’s outage map appears to show that the issues are global. Problems reported including both sending and receiving snaps. We’re also seeing a lot of people engaging with our ‘How to fix a login fail error on Snapchat‘ pieces.

There are also hundreds upon hundreds of tweets regarding the outage.

If you’re also experiencing issues, let us know! As stated, given how many reports there are of this outage across Twitter and over on Downdetector, it’s very likely that this is a server-side issue on Snapchat’s end. Unfortunately, that means there probably isn’t much you can do to solve the issue.

Just in case though, you can check out our Snapchat troubleshooting guide, which will help you check for any Snapchat updates, as well as resetting your network settings, and uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

As mentioned, Snapchat is looking into these issues, but there’s no indication as to when they might get fixed. We’ll keep an eye on everything and let you know when Snapchat is back up and running!

Extend your PlayStation Plus membership for a year with a $36 digital code

CDKeys has a 12-month digital code for PlayStation Plus on sale for $35.99. A year of PlayStation’s online service would normally set you back $60, and it hardly ever goes on sale directly. It’s great when you can find any sort of discount really, and these codes from CDKeys only show up once in a while. Take advantage of it while you can whether you want to go online for the first time ever or just want to extend a subscription you already have.

The obvious primary benefit of having a PlayStation Plus membership is the ability to play multiplayer titles. You’ll finally be able to battle your way to the top in multiplayer games like Call of Duty Warzone or Fortnite. If fighting against strangers isn’t your idea of a good time, you can always play co-operative titles with your friends. Play through a massive roleplaying game like Divinity: Original Sins II together or build a base in Minecraft. Get indirect multiplayer support in some games, such as Death Stranding where other players will leave you helpful tips or even tools you can use to travel easier. You don’t have to be on opposite sides all the time.

Beyond the multiplayer benefits, though, PlayStation Plus members get some other advantages as well. For example, you’ll get free games to download every month. Check out April’s free games already available for download. PlayStation Plus members also get exclusive deals and discounts and access to DLC. Some games even provide free DLC as long as you have that membership subscription active. With all the free stuff and big discounts, a PlayStation Plus membership seems less like an extra expense and more like an essential part of the PlayStation experience.

These CDKeys deals are very limited and tend to expire quickly once attention is drawn to them. Grab your code while you can.

A spin-off from the hugely popular CBS legal drama The Good Wife, The Good Fight has become an essential envelope-pushing show in its own right. Read on to find out how to watch the eagerly anticipated new season, no matter where you are in the world.

The new series picks up from the cliffhanger finale of season three which saw Chicago legal firm Reddick, Boseman and Lockhart left in a ruinous state after becoming victims of a financial scam.

Left with no option but to accept an offer from massive law firm, STR Laurie, Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), Adrian Boseman (Delroy Lindo), Liz Reddick (Audra McDonald) and the rest of the firm must now work out how they can exist being micromanaged by a huge multinational corporation. Amid the turmoil, the team are also trying to get to the bottom of the mysterious “memo 618” – a legal loophole that’s allowing the rich and powerful not to comply with judicial rulings.

The new season kicks off with an ambitious standalone opening episode that’s set entirely in an alternate reality where Hillary Clinton is president after beating Donald Trump in the 2016 US election,. Season four also boasts the return of Michael J. Fox as slippery lawyer Louis Canning, and Zach Grenier as blunt attorney David Lee.

Where to buy Clorox wipes right now

Keeping your home and surfaces clean is super important in remaining safe right now, and that may have you wondering where you can buy Clorox wipes. Many retailers across the country are sold out right now, making them hard to find.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends Clorox wipes as one of the best cleaners to use right now, and even Apple is saying it’s safe to clean phones with, so odds are you really want some for your home. We’ve taken the guess work out of trying to find them and rounded up all the stores you can still get some from right now.

Where to buy Clorox wipes

Many of the stores have limits on how many you can buy, and in all honesty you should only be buying what you need so that others can have some as well. Stores seem to be restocking inventory regularly, so be sure to check back often. You may need some other essentials, so be sure to take a look at where to buy toilet paper, which retailers have Lysol, and where you can still find hand sanitizer and face masks so that you have all the essentials.

Amazon is the way to go

It looks like Amazon is the best current bet, but that’s constantly changing. Amazon is focusing on essentials these days, so hopefully the retailer can keep these in stock, though you may have better luck at one of the other places. If you need them today, Amazon may not be the best bet.

The retailer has single and multi-packs available and they all range in price.

Amazon

Things are constantly changing with medical inventory, but as of right now, Amazon has a few different Clorox wipes options in stock at very reasonable prices.

Home Depot sells more than just tools

Home Depot may not be the first place you think to look for Clorox wipes since they are most known for tools and home repair supplies, but you’d be surprised. There are a few different packs available, but most of them are in-store only so you’ll need to take a trip to your local store in order to buy some.

Online inventory may be a no-go, but if you live near a Home Depot, your local store might have some Clorox wipes still available for purchase.

Target has stock in-store and for delivery

Target offers the widest variety of options for getting the Clorox wipes that works best for you. Availability varies by location, but Target is working hard to get these essentials restocked regularly. You can do home delivery on some, and others are available in-store instead.

Be sure to check back often to see what else is available.

With in-store availability, drive up pick up, and delivery available in various areas, you may have some great luck shopping Clorox wipes at Target.

You might have some luck with CVS

Moving away from hardware stores and now looking at pharmacies, CVS is a fantastic resource when it comes to health/wellness products like Clorox wipes. The nationwide pharmacy doesn’t currently have anything in stock for its online storefront, but once again, you’ll probably have better luck by visiting the nearest CVS in-person.

CVS has a couple of different options to choose from so be sure to check them all out and grab what you prefer.

If there’s a CVS near you, go there and see what the store’s inventory is like. Otherwise, keep an eye on online inventory to (hopefully) be replenished soon!

It’s also worth checking out Walgreens

Another pharmacy to keep on your radar is Walgreens. It’s the same deal here, with Walgreens’ online shopping for Clorox wipes maybe not being a viable option. However, if you live close to a Walgreens (which you most likely do), make a quick trip there and you’ll likely have much better luck.

You may not find what you need on the first trip, so be sure to keep checking back.

Walgreens

Your best bet is heading into the local Walgreens to find out what’s available, but you may get lucky and be able to buy some online as well.

Streaming Twitch? Take a look at the best headsets for Twitch in 2020

Whether you are a content creator or watching with the community, headsets are an essential peripheral in the streaming world. Twitch’s popularity has blossomed over the past few years and now hosts over 41,000 Twitch Partners and 1.64 million concurrent viewers. Not all of them want the same setup. If you are skipping the microphone and going with a headset or want a little more privacy when viewing, these are the best headsets for Twitch.

Unbelieveable value

SteelSeries Arctus 7

Staff Pick

Wireless worry is a thing of the past, lag-free wireless audio thanks to the 2.4G technology, and the 24-hour battery life means you can game all day without interruption. The Arctis 7 headset also features AirWeave ear cushions designed to keep you comfy for long gaming sessions. If you can get these on sale, it is a value you shouldn’t pass on.

$125 at Amazon
$150 at Best Buy

Pro gaming immersion

Logitech G Pro X Gaming Headset

With next-gen surround sound from DTS and a unique hybrid mesh construction, you hear clear and precise sounds. Know exactly where your enemy is approaching from before they know you have caught them. Now, with 50 mm drivers, PRO-G offers even greater accuracy across a wider frequency range.

Soft comfort

Sennheiser GAME ONE Gaming Headset

Sennheiser, being primarily known for audio products, makes them an excellent source for clean sound in headsets. Sennheiser’s original transducer technology in the Game One headset gives clear and responsive audio. The plush valor ear pads make long wear comfortable.

$129 at WalMart

Feather light

Logitech G433

What I Use.

This headset was explicitly designed to be as light a possible while still offering quality sound and voice. What Logitech came up with is a 259gram headset featuring DTS Headphone:X Surround Sound for precise gaming and detachable noise-canceling boom microphone with a micro-pop filter designed for clarity in communication.

$80 at Logitech

Exceedingly popular

HyperX Cloud ii Pro

This solid headset has an overwhelming fan base. It’s hard to argue with nearly 4.5 stars out of 20,000 reviews on Amazon. These are quite comfortable even for long gaming sessions unless you have a larger than average head. A detachable boom is a nice bonus if you plan to use a separate microphone.

$100 at Amazon
$100 at Best Buy

Quality on budget

Mpow EG3

Thick, soft padding makes this headset rather comfortable if bulky. These are no Bose, but despite the price, the sound and voice quality is excellent. Mpow has offered solid reasonably priced headsets for a while now. The only real downside is that the microphone doesn’t detach, or worse yet, it doesn’t retract or fold either. So be careful with your drinks.

$33 at Amazon
$80 at Logitech

A headset for every streamer.

Streaming on Twitch couldn’t be easier with one of these headsets. It is hard to pick one -best- headset when everybody has different aspects they find most important. The SteelSeries Arctis 7 you get one of the most popular headsets, wireless with a long-lasting battery, retractable microphone considered one of the best in gaming and premium woven ski goggle band to help balance the weight of the headset.

For me, the 359grams of the Arctis 7 is daunting. I am prone to migraines, and the pressure of headsets can be a trigger. Logitech g433 has become my go-to headset. They are light for a headset, 100grams lighter than the Arctis 7, and still offer the same quality sound you expect from other Logitech headsets.

If budget is your biggest concern, grab the Mpow EG3 headset. Few headsets in this price range offer the quality you get in the EG3s. They aren’t perfect, but once you get used to a microphone, you can’t move, you should be streaming just fine.

You can’t go wrong with any of these options; it’s just about what set fits your needs the best.

Zoom announces massive collaboration with security experts

It has also hired the former Chief of Security for Facebook as an advisor.

What you need to know

  • Zoom has announced a collaboration with security experts from several major firms.
  • It says it has received offers of help from companies including HSBC and is setting up an advisory board.
  • That board will include security leaders from Netflix, Uber, EA and more!

Zoom has announced it is partnering with security leaders and experts from several major tech firms including Netflix and EA in a bid to make its app more secure.

In a blog post today Zoom provided the first update on its commitment to address Zoom’s privacy and security flaws over the next 90 days. CEO Eric S. Yuan stated:

To that end, I am excited to announce two developments: we have officially formed our CISO Council and Advisory Board, including security leaders from across industries; and Alex Stamos has joined Zoom as an outside advisor to assist with the comprehensive security review of our platform.

The Council and Advisory board will include security leaders from several world-leading companies:

I am truly humbled that — in less than a week after announcing our 90-day plan — some of the most well-respected CISOs in the world have offered us their time and services. This includes CISOs from HSBC, NTT Data, Procore, and Ellie Mae, among others. The purpose of the CISO Council will be to engage with us in an ongoing dialogue about privacy, security, and technology issues and best practices — to share ideas, and collaborate.

Within our CISO Council, we are establishing an Advisory Board that will include a subset of CISOs who will act as advisors to me personally. This group will enable me to be a more effective and thoughtful leader and will help ensure that privacy and security are at the forefront of everything we do at Zoom. The initial members of our Advisory Board will include security leaders from VMware, Netflix, Uber, Electronic Arts, and others.

Zoom is collaborating with the likes of Netflix, Uber and Electronic Arts, whose security leaders will become part of an advisory board. Zoom has also announced the hiring of Alex Stamos as “an outside advisor.” A widely respected cybersecurity expert, Stamos is an “Adjunct Professor at Stanford’s Freeman-Spogli Institute and a visiting scholar at the Hoover institution.” He also served as Chief Security Officer of Facebook and even sits on an advisory board for NATO’s Collective Cybersecurity Center of Excellence, so it seems like he probably knows what he’s talking about.

Yuan stated that he was “grateful to Alex and our CISO Council members for their vote of confidence in Zoom and their desire to help make us even better.”

Zoom is also holding weekly webinars on Wednesdays at 10 am PT to update its community on privacy and security updates. You can read the full post here.
