Flavor Flav’s Former Manager Sells His Merch to Raise Money for their Child

Flavor Flav’s former manager and the mother of his child, Kate Gammell has been in a constant battle with the rapper to get him to claim and provide for their baby boy, Jordan Gammell.

Gammell reived a paternity test back in October of 2019, confirming that the Public Enemy star is indeed the father of Gammell’s child. Despite the paternity test proving that Flav is the father of her son Jordan, the rapper has seemed to continue to not be active in the life of his son.

In efforts to provide for her newborn, Gammell went to social media to take matters into her own hands. The former manager posted a video of her so sitting on some Flavor Flav merch, as she reads this caption, “Here is my son, Jordan, surrounded by official Flavor Flav merchandise. Jordan is Flavor’s son. I used to manage Flav but no longer do due to the obvious reason. I bought tons of merchandise when I was his manager and now I need money for my son’s everyday needs because I am not getting any child support, so decided to pull out all the merch and sell it to you. It is being sold at a discount rate. I will also be donating a percentage to children’s hospital because they helped me as a kid and are really working hard now even with the Coronavirus to help kids. Message me if interested.”

Gammell has been the manager for Flavor Flav since his early days in Public Enemy. She handled the rapper’s public appearances and his merchandising. In the video, you can see a collection of colorful clothing from t-shirts to hats to hoodies, surrounding baby Jordan. Flav seems to be unbothered by the news after a video surfaced the internet of the hip-hop pioneer making a funny video to Roddy Ricch’s “The Box.”

“When I told him I was pregnant with his child, Flavor let me go and I was left with thousands of dollars of Flavor Flav merch that I had purchased with my own money,” Gammell shares with HipHopDX. “Jordan is not getting any child support from Flavor and I needed money for Jordan’s everyday needs. So, I decided to pull out the merch and sell it to help my son and give a percentage to Children’s Hospital. I doubt I will recoup the money that I put into this, but I don’t care, as any money towards Jordan’s needs is important. The support for Jordan has been fantastic so far,” she continued.

April Ryan Exposes New Press Secretary’s ‘Horrid’ 2012 Tweet About Obama

The Trump Administration recently decided to let go of Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham and move on to Trump loyalist Kayleigh McEnany.

Formerly a CNN commentator, McEnany will soon become familiar with White House Reporter April Ryan who exposed McEnany for a racist tweet from 2012.

“How I Met Your Brother — Never mind, forgot he’s still in that hut in Kenya,” McEnany’s tweet reads about President Obama referring to his brother who lives in Kenya.

Based on a Twitter search, it appears that the hashtag #ObamaTVShows trended in 2012, and McEnany was having some fun at the President’s expense.

“Is this the new @PressSec? Well this sis some of the same ish! Horrid!!!! Not Acceptable,” Ryan wrote in the retweet. The 2017 NABJ Journalist of the Year has become a rival of every Press Secretary Trump has put forth and it looks like Press Sec number 4, Kayleigh McEnany, will be no different.

McEnany has not yet responded to April Ryan, but she should get familiar with the 20-year White House veteran before she makes the same mistakes as her predecessors.

SOURCE SPORTS: Pittsburgh Steelers GM Proposes Three More Rounds For 2020 Draft

In response to the challenges NFL teams are facing due to the coronavirus pandemic, Steelers general manager has a solution.

Steelers GM, Kevin Colbert told league officials that teams should be awarded three extra draft picks. His reasoning is due to the “inherent challenges posed by the coronavirus restrictions,” according to reports.

Colbert believes that teams will be more prone to making mistakes without additional time to evaluate prospects. However, a 10-round draft would help widen a team’s margin for error according to the GM.

“What I’ve reminded our staff, our scouts, from the very beginning of the process since the changes of our rules, I reminded them of the 1974 draft that the Steelers conducted, and they ended up with five Hall of Famers,” Colbert recently said.

“Back in that day, Art Rooney Jr., Bill Nunn and Dick Haley put together the best draft in NFL history, and they didn’t have pro days. They didn’t have combines. They relied on what they felt those guys were as football players. If we have to go into this draft with the same mentality, that’s our challenge, and we’ll do the best we can.”

Fear Of A Virtual Draft

Colbert is one of the NFL’s longest-tenured general managers. However, he isn’t the only one in the NFL that feels some type of way.

This year, the draft will be conducted virtually. NFL teams will be drafting from home. Some insiders, like Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, are concerned about being “hacked.”

“Yeah, big concern,” Harbaugh said on a Zoom call Monday, to the Baltimore Sun. “Every time I read something in, like, the Wall Street Journal or the New York Times that talks about how messed up Zoom is, or some of these other deals … I immediately text it to our IT people, and [director of football administration] Nick Matteo’s one of those guys, and they assure me that we are doing everything humanly possible.”

The league has a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. It includes an expanded regular season and postseason field that comes into effect in 2021.

The NFL will also increase team rosters from 53 to 56 players.

Detroit Nurses Ordered To Leave Hospital After Refusing to Work

Night shift nurses that worked in an emergency care unit in a Detroit hospital staged a sit-in, refusing to work. Their only condition to continue working, would be to allow more nurses to come and help with the increased number of patients.

After careful deliberation, hospital administrators decided that they would not bring on extra staff and left the nurses who refused to work with an ultimatum. To get to work or go home. This deliberation took 4 hours for the hospital administrators to make.

A physician whose identity remains anonymous shares that some nurses decided to leave, given the ultimatum. Once most of the night shift nurses in the facility left, day shift nurses were told to continue working which extended their shifts into 24-hour shifts. Detroit Medical Center Communications Manager, Jason Barczy told CNN “We are disappointed that last night a very small number of nurses at Sinai-Grace Hospital staged a work stoppage in the hospital refusing to care for patients. Despite this, our patients continued to receive the care they needed as other dedicated nurses stepped in to provide care.”

ER Nurse, Sal Hadwan tells shares in a Livestream video on Facebook the nurses in the Sinai Grace Hospital have reached their “breaking point.”   “We had two nurses the other day who had 26 patients with 10 ventilators,” Hadwan shared. “The nurses need extra help because for three straight weeks they’ve had more than 110 patients in the ER,” he added.

Within the recent activity, Nurses from across the world have been expressing concerns with the handle of hospital administrators during this pandemic. President of the Michigan Nurses Association, Jamie Brown tells CNN, “Nurses around the state are desperately doing everything we can to keep our patients and ourselves safe. Eventually, a tipping point is reached where the best thing any RN can do for their patients, their families, and their coworkers is to speak out rather than remain silent. Until hospitals start taking the concerns of nurses seriously, it’s only a matter of time before more actions like these occur. It is absolutely essential that hospitals start working with nurses and stop silencing our voices,” she continued.

Give The Barber Some! Celebrity Barber Creates The Barber Relief Fund

The effects of COVID-19 are wide-ranging affecting every industry. None more so than the barbershop, nail salon, and hairstyling studios.

These neighborhood respites are where the community comes together, shares information and challenges the status quo.

However, with person-to-person service-based businesses suffering heavily, who is looking after the barbers? Enter celebrity barber and master groomer, Marvin “Marv The Barb” Church who created The Barber Relief Fund.

“The grooming industry from barbering and hairstylists to nail techs and more are all suffering due to this unexpected pandemic,” said Church. “It is now that we need to stand strong together as one community that takes care of itself.

“We are the ones that make sure the world is at its best daily. It is now that we need the world to help us remain at our best.”

Giving Back When Its Inconvenient

Having worked on movie and television sets, Church knows that he is in a different position than most barbers. With a client list that ranges from Trey Songz, Wayne Brady, and Congressman John Lewis (D-GA), Church has been blessed.

His want to keep an integral community staple alive and its artists have given him a unique sense of purpose.

The Barber Relief Fund will provide financial assistance to qualifying barbers affected negatively by the COVID-19 outbreak. There is an application process and all funds granted are free of repayment. They must be used to assist the barber professional during this time.

“The barbershop is a staple in the community for the leadership within. As one of my clients, Congressman John Lewis said of the civil rights movement, ‘the barbershop was the place to provide the information to ease and comfort the community it serviced. Please help us keep the stewards of this community staple alive.”

SOURCE SPORTS: UFC’s Dana White Securing Private Island For Fights Despite COVID-19

UFC president Dana White revealed his strategy to keep mixed martial arts alive during the COVID-19 pandemic.

His plan is straight out of a Hollywood movie but he is not acting at all. White wants to host the fights on a private island, fly the fighters on a private jet, and keep UFC 249 and sports alive.

He told this to TMZ but would not reveal the location(s) he is considering.

However, he confirmed that he has secured the venue for 2 months. He plans on being very active, hosting fights every week. This will involve moving and constructing the Octagon on the island and setting up shop.

However, White says the deal isn’t completely done yet, but he is very close.

White also revealed the remainder of the fight card for UFC 249. Former UFC strawweight champ Rose Namajunas vs. Jessica Andrade and Francis Ngannou vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Also, former NFL player Greg Hardy, Ray Borg, Jeremy Stephens and more. The main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson is most likely scrapped due to Khabib not wanting to travel during COVID-19.

No word yet on who will be Tony Ferguson’s opponent if this happens.

Alicia Keys Recalls Auditioning for Prince to Get Clearance to Sample ‘How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore’

Alicia Keys is promoting her memoir, More Myself, and made a guest appearance on Malcolm Gladwell’s podcast Broken Record this week.

The singer spoke about the early phases of her career and remembered a “bananas” story about Prince.

Keys needed legal permission from the late singer to sample his song “How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore” for her debut album, Songs in A Minor. “Other people could call [him], but it would likely not go well,” she said. “And I think that they understood that if I called, maybe it made it a little harder for him to say no.”

At this point in her career, Keys was only about 18 or 19 years old and only had her debut single, “Fallin’” under her belt. She spoke about how nervous she was speaking to Prince considering his reputation for denying covers. “I hadn’t spoken to people that I adored like him ever before that phone call,” she said. “That was not a normal occurrence — even today if he were still alive, and I was calling him, I would still feel nervous about calling him.”

Her anxiety was building up as she was on hold waiting for Prince to come on the phone and the conversation went well and ended with an invitation to Paisley Park. I start talking to him, and he was super friendly and encouraging, saying he heard what I’d been working on and that he knows I’m writing and producing my stuff. He said to keep that up. I asked if I could play [the song] on the album, and he said, ‘Why don’t you come to Paisley Park and play it for me?’”

Alicia Keys then traveled to Minnesota in the Winter and basically auditioned for him. He must’ve liked what he saw because he went on to mentor the singer and built a friendship.

“He was definitely observing what I was doing, and he was so veraciously a music lover and really excited about new music, all the time,” she says. “I never met anybody like that, who just knew the pulse of new music so well. That was him.”
